AI For N Layers or N Minutes#895

We all know that the most crucial part of a print is the first layer or the first few minutes of a print. The vast majority of my failures come from the first layer not sticking well and coming off the bed. For the most part, a well-tuned machine’s only real concern is the beginning of the print.

I’m fairly sure the AI detection could detect this, but at 12 hours a month, there’s very little room to use it when many of my prints are 6+ hours. I know, of course, that you can buy additional licenses, but I’m thinking that I don’t really need 24/7 monitoring, not to mention it eats up a lot of my bandwidth, so I’d actually rather just have AI detection turn off automatically either after the first 5 layers or so (where the typical bottom layers end) or after the first N minutes (e.g. auto-off after 10 minutes), would greatly improve my ability to leverage those 12 hours, without eating up my bandwidth.

As I see it, such an option could be added to the one-click print menu to say something like ‘turn on AI short detection’ or something like that. It could be further combined with the Staggered Printing Options to auto-swap to printers when using one-click.
