Hot take, I don’t like paying greedy as compaines to give me basic features other slicers let use without buying them.

Then why don’t you download their slicers? Simplyprint is paying for cloud hosting and cloud processing for your broke ass that can’t buy a computer apparently

Slicing engines = free. Our servers = not free. Our time = not free. Us spending 1+ year developing a custom web slicer, fully custom UI, Gcode analyzer, proecessor and previewer, offering a free plan where you get to use the product that we’ve spent years developing - for free (sure, with a limit), = pretty darn generous if you ask me.

You’re not the first one with the misconception that “oh if it’s normally free to use these slicers how fucking DARE these greedy assholes charge for it and limit it!” - it’s a bit hard to communicate and make (some) people, keyboard warriors especially, understand what is our work, and what is open source; we, and you, indeed benefit from the slicing engines like Orca and Cura being open source, and we indeed use these engines to process your slice - but that’s it. All you see and interact with is ours, and every time you slice it costs us money - is that really unfair to limit…? It’s cloud slicing. The reason not everyone does it, and that Orca, Cura, Bambu, Prusa etc. don’t offer a web based slicer of their own, is that they too, like we did, would have to sit down and develop the web-based UI from the bottom.

Standing up for open source = good. But coming in guns blazing just because you’re uneducated is not. We always welcome critisism, but getting a biiit tired of this particular “critisism” from those that don’t get that everything in this world can’t be free. We are 4 people full time, working our asses off - most of us hadn’t gotten a salary before very recently, and you complain about our free plan not being free enough…? Fuck off lol.
