Add Project support to Cloud Slicer: export project + geometry e.g. for Makerworld#784

When a file is sliced for Bambua Lab P1S I note it does not allow me to upload to Makerworld, nor does it allow me to import into Bambu Studios. Both systems state “error NO .3mf file” or it states “3mf is missing geometry data”

Makerworld only accepts 3MF projects, not sliced files. Our slicer cannot currently produce 3MF projects - only sliced files. So the printer can print it, but files sliced in our slicer cannot be uploaded to Makerworld (nor import it into BambuStudio).

Im pretty sure with MakerWorld you are supposed to upload the sliced file for folks to print direct from hub.

. When uploading a print profile to MakerWorld, you must use a sliced .3MF file (created in Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer). This file is what enables the “one-click printing” feature, as it contains both the geometric model and all of your specific slicing parameters.
Follow these steps to upload properly:
Prepare the File: Import the model into Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer. Arrange, color, and slice the file with the exact settings (supports, infill, layer height) needed for a successful print.
Save Project: Export and save it as a Project file (.3MF) rather than a raw .STL or G-code. (MakerWorld rejects raw G-code).Upload: Attach this sliced .3MF file to your model upload as the Print Profile. It will undergo a cloud-based slicing check for verification before it is published.

Yep - we just don’t export it that way (as the engine doesn’t help us to do that). It is coming though, “Export as project”: but our export does not include the 3D geometry at the moment, just the sliced Gcode file - bare minimum. So, I suggest we rename and update the suggestion to be about “Add Project support to Cloud Slicer: export project + geometry e.g. for Makerworld”?

Well, this is a User Experience issue. That said either way, I’m sure you realize how much every appreaciates this mission. Thats why i even mention this. your system is promising.

For sure! We can communicate that much better, and it’s definitely a gap - in the suggestion box we try to narrow down the issue so we’re sure what the actual steps to fix it is. This, sure, is a UX issue, but the fix is to add the “Project file export” support capability to the slicer - with that fixed, the UX issue should be gone! Good news is that it’s on the list and we’re hoping to ship it within ~3, max 4 weeks! Appreciate the support! :)
