When queuing files on a printer with “Auto Print” enabled, there is currently no fail-safe or selection step to specify which filament/spool the system should use. The system proceeds to print without a color tag, apparently defaulting to Slot 1.
This is dangerous for production because if Slot 1 changes (or isn’t the intended color), the system automatically starts printing the wrong stock. The risk is even higher if it ignores Material Type (e.g., PLA vs PETG).
Suggestion: If a specific filament/color tag is not assigned to the queued file, Auto Print should pause and require confirmation, OR there must be a mandatory selector for “Target Spool/Color” before the file enters the Auto Print queue.
I am un aware if this type of issue extends further than this or not with non-autoprint printers in the print que, if so it should probably be looked at.
I understand this could be more complicated when dealing with multi coloured prints too. But it does not seem un-reasonable to solve. Simple tag check.
