Totally! This may be purely opinion, in which case wave to me as you pass you pass it by, but the the smaller grid icons typically refer to a more compact view of information and vice versa for a larger grid icon.
In the case of the filament views, as they currently stand, the “grid” view icon (nine small squares) is actually a “tighter” grid icon showing more small squares when, in fact, it actually represents larger displays of filament that take up more of the screen. Conversley, the “compact” icon (four larger squares) represents a smaller display of the filament on the screen.
