Default machine type tag on uploaded files#575

I don’t know if this is possible, but I run a farm with multiple different machine types and I often print the same thing on all of them. My current workflow is that I slice in the desktop BambuStudio, export the sliced file, and upload.

The upload gets the nozzle, material, and bed tags – which is great. If it also got a machine tag (“P1S” or similar), then I could easily make sure I’m using the right file for the printer. Right now, I just name the files and use the file search, which works fine, or I use custom tags, which is also OK, but automatic tagging is even cooler.

Also, totally understand if this isn’t feasible given the realities of what’s in a gcode file (which I’m unfamiliar with.)

Hi there Mark, i think we already do something quite close to that, as we can associate a list of printers or printer models with each file, although we might only do this automatically when you upload your files to the print queue and not “your files” although both can have them.

Oh interesting; I’ve not really explored the queue, I just hit ‘start a print’ and drop the file there and check the ‘Upload file?’ box. It makes it a really fast workflow. I’ll see if using print queue feels better / addresses this!

It does this, even via “Your files” - at least now, and has for a while. Found a little bug today that made it not always respect “clusters”, but it should have - if matching something - found one printer model. As I’ll cover over on #279 in a second the support for this has been (from the next update in ~1-2 days) been expanded too.

So, to recap;
Auto printer model tagging based on our analysis of the Gcode both via “Your files” and on upload to the Queue, using the same auto-tagging logic, but now the regular “Click ‘start print’” always, even for non-queue items, checks for printer model matches, even for files that are uploaded as one-offs and now from your filesystem or queue.
