Add support for U1

We’re awaiting ours. Will hopefully get it soon!

I have 1 and 2 more coming. I’ve been using the generic Killper setup and it works decently, but no camera support. I think that’s more a limit of the firmware though and there is a custom firmware that I think makes the camera functional in Fluidd.

Yeah that’s what we’ve heard too. If we can SSH into it we may just with a script be able to make the camera work - we’ve recently done so with the Creality K2 as well. But we’ll know more when we get it.

Native-ish support out: https://simplyprint.io/setup-guide/snapmaker/u1 - but not material mapping and all that - yet. Coming soon!

Incidentally, that https://simplyprint.io/setup-guide/snapmaker/u1/enable-simplyprint page leaves out one crucial detail which I’m sure was obvious to whoever wrote it, but not necessarily the average user. First page talks about upgrading firmware and then sends you over to page 2, where it asks you what “UI” your printer is using: Mainsail? Fluidd? Moonraker? – I had never heard any of these words and the display on my printer looked nothing like any of those choices.
Eventually, I talked to somebody on the forums who filled in the missing link: “Point your browser to the printer’s IP address and look at that UI, not the color touchscreen on the printer” – I didn’t even know the printer exposed a web interface, so I would not have thought of that for a while…
(The webcam instructions were appreciated. I went the systemd route and was able to get it working, but there’s extra whitespace in the service file on the execstart line, right after the quote, that gives a python error if you copy-paste it verbatim. If you remove that newline, it works for me)

Yep, great feedback. In general this is a problem with all the newer Klipper printers where they are less DIY and more Bambu-like on the “just works” scala. We are improving those setup guides in general like this.

It is challenging for newbies but can also confuse us seasoned printers too!
My main ask for the integration is just colour matching and being able to control bed leveling and the dynamic flow calibration.
I know I said “just”, as a dev myself I realise it is not that simple!
Looking forward to the release, do you have a quarter in mind for the release?

It will coincide with our larger SimplyPrint client release, but we are looking at 2+ months as a conservative estimate, but perhaps before then :) But end of Q2 is the goal, and we are working hard to make it happen!

What is the larger SimplyPrint client out of interest?

Without going too off-topic here (but feel feel to @ me on discord, or via our live-chat) it will combine all our printer clients + including the beta Elegoo, Ultimaker etc printers into one product, that is modular enough to support a lot of cool local integrations we want to ship, and for users to create their own.
